This afternoon’s batch
May 18, 2007
Possums, I think something very special has happened! A simultaneous, international bake-off of yogurt/oatmeal muffins has occurred this very afternoon. Whilst Charlotte in Germany was making her version of the recipe, Sally and I made banana ones (pictured below) here in Melbourne, Australia.
We used the small muffin trays, and therefore made twenty-four!

You will notice only twelve muffins in the shot. This is because my children and the neighbor’s child got stuck into them before they cooled. Wait, stop, I said. These were made especially for a photo shoot!!!!
Did they all think I was nuts? Yes, they did.

What synchronicity! Mine are in the oven. Will report back shortly.
Hey Binds.
They look yummy. There’s nothing like the smell of home-baking.
We have a bake-out at school once a term. It’s one of the most popular PTA events.
My kids love baking. Don’t know where they get it from. My youngest daughter will go into the kitchen and get all kinds of ingredients, throw them together and present them to me – with all the fancy trimmings. And she insists I eat them! Gulp!
OK, they are delicious. We had chopped walnuts and chocolate in ours. I liked the way they are tangy and moist. I will definitely be baking them again. Thanks, Bindi.
Oh Yum! I like the sound of chocolate and walnut – I haven’t tried that combination before.
I’m so glad you liked the recipe, Charlotte. This has been fun.
Hi earthpal, is the bake-off like a cake stall? A fund raiser? Or is it a social gathering?
Very brave of you to eat your daughter’s ‘creations’.
Charlotte, the tangyness is related to the yougurt choice. For a less tangy muffin, you could use Jalna vanilla yogurt, or similar.
Now this is really cool. I love the idea of international baking happening simultaneously.
Bindi – you could organise all of your blog readers to bake at nearly the same time … I’d be willing to stay up late!!
I love all the small hands reaching toward the muffins. No doubt the kids thought you had lost a few marbles!
Hi Kate, now that would be a feat! We’d be in the Guinness Book of Records for sure!
