“A little ray of sunshine

Has come into the world

A little ray of sunshine

In the shape of a girl”

by Glen Shorrack (The Little River Band).

In the mornings the sun streams through the large window at the front of our house. Sally’s window art comes alive and casts colourful dots into the room. If you look closely, each little speck of colour is an individually crafted work of art portraying her shiney young and joyful view of the world.

Sally’s joy and love is captured in her artwork. It spills off the windows…

… and onto vases:

This vase has happy little fish added to it.

This one has smiley faces, hearts and flowers.

On this one, Sally has added a little bee in a garden of flowers.

She’s my Little Ray of Sunshine.

She is a cutie that’s for sure!
I think of our youngest as such a gift to our family – we are so lucky to have her!
Although I’m not sure that her big brother would agree ( middle child acting out lately )

  2. Its great having an eight-year old around, isn’t it? I wish we could bottle them.

These paintings are lovely. I assume that your girls inherited their artistic gifts especially from your mother. My elder duaghter can paint but doesn’t do so now. I still have your Kat’s drawing of my kitten, too!

  4. Love it. Bright and cheery, just like your girls!

    Have a great weekend Bindi

  5. Hi mirabella, Sally finds the window art really insiring. The little paintings set on plastic and then she can peel them off and stick them anywhre (glass works best). Its a pity my mum isn’t around to enjoy it too, but you’re right, their artistic talent is her legacy.

Hi misslionheart, and thanks! I really love the way Sally brightens our living space with her childish imagination, it cheers us all!

I hope you have a lovely weekend too, especially now that summer is almost at your door!

these little works of art truly do brighten up your rooms, it is always amazing to me how small touches like that can make such a big difference in how a room feels!

  7. Yes, even a room suffering from really bad seventies-style renovations (like ours, eg. dark interior bricks) can feel bright and full of happiness.

What a cheerful and charming heart – you are lucky to have Sally in your life. Two of my favourite things – flowers and painting. Your mum must be smiling somewhere.

  9. Hi Kate, what a lovely thought (about mum). Thank you.

And I agree, it is indeed a blessing to have children in your life in any way, shape or form!
